 About us - our background


Lindsey, my wife, and I met in Rimini, Italy while we were both on holiday.  I was born in Rome and Lindsey comes from Dudley in the Black Country.  We spent a number of years working in Rome before returning to England where we were recruited by Courage and ran a busy town centre pub in Guildford, our innovative and authentic Italian menu was a great success and we were moved to larger premises, our success continued which brought with it increased administrative demands and we found ourselves moving away from our true passion for modern Italian cuisine.

We moved from the hustle and bustle of Guildford to The Golden Galleon, Exceat Bridge where we spent 18 happy years.  Once again though we became victims of our own success, the stress of trying to feed thousands of customers every week in high season on home cooked food began to take over our lives, and by now we had our own family to consider.

We decided to move to our lovely small Italian restaurant, allowing Lindsey to get back into the kitchen and myself amongst the customers doing what we both love to do – creating good quality authentic Italian cuisine specialising in fish and seafood in a friendly atmosphere, with plenty of banter and “wineflow”.
